Reversibility of a phosphoroclastic reaction.

چکیده
Reaction 1 occurring with reaction 2 involves carbon dioxide fixation. Koepsell & Johnson (1942) obtained a cell-free extract from Clo8tridium butylicum which converts pyruvic acid into acetic acid, carbon dioxide and hydrogen, and requires phosphate for the reaction. Later Koepsell, Johnson & Meek (1944) found that inorganic phosphate is taken up and labile phosphate appears. The overall reaction may be illustrated:

Ferredoxin in the Phosphoroclastic Reaction of Pyruvic Acid and Its Relation to Nitrogen Fixation in Clostridium pasteurianum
We have reported recently that nitrogen fixation in cell extracts of Clostriclium pasteurianum is dependent upon transitory intermediates from pyruvate metabolism (l-3). Thus, fixation has been observed to occur only while pyruvate is being actively consumed; the mole ratio of pyruvate consumed to Nz fixed approximated 100 : 1. Except for Z-ketobutyrate, no replacement for pyruvate has been fou...

The reversibility of the Diels-Alder reaction can be used advantageously in polyurethane materials to endow them with recyclable, thermally reversible properties and self-healing ability to expand their application range. In this paper, linear and crosslink polyurethanes based on HTPB, which exhibit thermal reversibility through Diels-Alder and retro Diels-Alder reactions, were prepared and cha...
متن کاملCofactors of the phosphoroclastic reaction of Clostridium butyricum.
The degradation of pyruvate, in the presence of phosphate, to acetate, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen by cell-free extracts of Clostridium butylicum was described by Koepsell and Johnson (1). Later acetyl phosphate, the labile precursor of the acetate, was shown to be produced (2, 3), and phosphotransacetylase was shown to be present in the cell-free extracts (4). This reaction is, at least, supe...
متن کاملThe selective toxicity of antimicrobial nitroheterocyclic drugs.
Three antimicrobial nitroimidazole drugs (metronidazole, dimetridazole, and tinidazole) inhibit a range of clostridia and the protozoan Trichomonas vaginalis ; they have an identical site and mode of action as specific electron acceptors from the pyruvate phosphoroclastic reaction. Analogues of the drugs are compared and the structural requirements for activity explained. The nitrofuran (nitrof...
متن کاملCoenzyme A function in and acetyl transfer by the phosphotransacetylase system.
Lipmann and Tuttle (1) discovered that certain bacterial extracts catalyze a rapid interchange of inorganic and acetyl-bound phosphate. They suggested that this exchange might be due in part to a reversibility of the phosphoroclastic decomposition of pyruvate; however, the observation that the exchange was surprisingly unaffected by addition of acetyl acceptors like formate led them to suspect ...
